WhatsApp Users Report Sudden Blue Themes and Vanishing Chat Colors

Many users recently noticed their WhatsApp chats and interface colors changing unexpectedly. Some saw their entire app shift to a blue theme, while others found their custom chat bubble colors unexpectedly reverted back to the default green—and the ability to change them had disappeared.

One group reported that their personalized chat bubbles, ranging from soft grey to bright purple, had defaulted to green. The option to customize the color was also gone. Users described this as a jarring experience, like a style reset happening without their consent.

Meanwhile, other users experienced a complete theme shift, with the whole app turning blue. That change affected standard and Business versions alike, suggesting a broader underlying issue rather than a feature rollout or settings update.

A temporary fix has emerged: force-closing and reopening WhatsApp restored original chat bubble colors and customization options for some users. However, those whose apps changed entirely to blue haven’t found a workaround yet.

This inconsistency has led many to suspect the problem stems from ongoing A/B testing. WhatsApp has been working on new chat themes and color options, and this glitch may be a side effect of that experimentation.

Users are advised to keep an eye on app updates, as WhatsApp is likely to release a patch in the coming days to resolve these visual inconsistencies. Let me know if you’d like tips on managing themes or reverting color changes.
